Mayor David Anderson commented that in recent years, the town had altered its local development charges to counteract the increase to the development charges imposed by Wellington County.
He asked Treasurer Gord Duff what he believes the impact was to the municipality.
Duff’s response was because of the timing, there has been a reduction in fees gathered.
“But there hasn’t been that much activity. It’s had a minimal negative impact.”
Duff said council’s decision was to give Minto an advantage and provide an incentive for industry.
He also noted that Minto’s development charges bylaw is up for renewal next year so council would be talking about it quite a bit in the coming months.
