Under the theme “Keep Calm and Plow On” the Harriston-Minto Agricultural Society has organized a packed line-up of unique entertainment for fall fair weekend, Sept. 16 to 18.
New on Friday is Main Event Gaming Night for the young and young at heart, featuring video games for the young and a variety of board games for the young at heart. This will be held in the auditorium from 7 to 10pm.
The opening of the fair will happen in the arena followed by the popular and lively Pie and Pork Auctions. Lawn mower races, a midway, a silent auction and fair exhibits will also occur Friday evening.
Saturday is filled with new attractions along with the old favourites like the Agricultural Awareness Barn and Let’s Talk Science. A parade, light horse show, baby show, heavy horse pull and the midway “Toonie Night” will be back again.
Fairgoers can test their reflexes driving remote control cars and trucks in the main arena.
Zoo To You will be showing their collection of exotic animals and R&R Pet Paradise Power Paws will perform in the ball diamond following the mutt show.
After a hearty Farmer’s Breakfast on Sunday fairgoers can attend the Interdenominational Church Service then stroll through the antique car show in the ball diamond.
This year, the Jr. Calf Show, in memory of Jim Burgess, for pre-4H children will be held within the beef show.
Favourites like the Big Bale Rollout, pedal tractor pull, free scooter draw, and demolition derby are scheduled again this year.
The weekend will end with a pork and beef barbecue in the auditorium from 4:30 to 6:30pm, during which field crop awards will be presented.
