MOUNT FOREST – A brief loss of water pressure in Mount Forest has been resolved, Wellington North officials say.
A notice posted to the township’s website at 1:43pm stated the community was “experiencing [a] loss of water throughout the water distribution system.”
“We had a local business doing fire flow testing on their private hydrants that caused two occurrences of a five-minute drop in pressure in the Mount Forest water distribution system,” chief building official Darren Jones wrote to the Advertiser in an email.
Around an hour-and-a-half later, at 3:21pm, an update stated water supply had been restored.
Jones said the township would not be disclosing any information about the business.
Restrictions on outdoor water use in Mount Forest have been in place since May 17, when the community’s water tower was emptied to undergo rehabilitation work. The tower is expected to be operational again in August.
Residents seeing discoloured water at the tap are advised to run cold water.
