CAMBRIDGE – For job searchers looking for support, there is a new resource that can help.
The “Help for Jobseekers” webpage on www.findyourjob.ca is simple and free to use, and connects job seekers to resources available to them locally.
Resources include:
– job search support;
– skills upgrading;
– education;
– apprenticeship;
– English as a second language classes; and
– volunteer opportunities.
Organizations that offer these services in Waterloo Region, Wellington County, and Dufferin County are included on the site.
In today’s economy, there has been more staff turnover at organizations that support job seekers, including colleges, Employment Ontario organizations, and school boards. This staff turnover means a loss in understanding of what supports exist for different populations seeking work.
“Help for Jobseekers” was created to address this gap by putting this information in one place that’s easy to access.
It also helps job seekers know what services are available to them locally.
“The support from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development has allowed us to gather local resources, strike an employer expert group and implement the “Help for Jobseekers” tool,” explained Charlene Hofbauer, executive director at the Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin.
“Jobseekers can use the decision-tree format to select options that will direct them to community supports tailored to their needs,” she added.
“Help for Jobseekers” is available at: findyourjob.ca/helpforjobseekers.
