An apple a day helps Scouts in many ways. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be stationed at local businesses in Fergus and Elora, handing out apples on Oct. 15 for Scouts Canada’s Apple Day.
The annual community appreciation event takes place in cities and towns across Canada.
A Scouting tradition dating back more than 80 years, youth distribute apples to thank community members for their support throughout the year.
Canadians can participate by picking up an apple and leaving an optional donation.
All donations collected during the event stay with the local groups, offsetting the cost of activities, equipment and trips, making Scouting accessible for all youth.
“Community support plays an integral role in enabling Scouts Canada to deliver affordable quality programming and once-in-a-lifetime adventures to our youth members,” said Kaylee Galipeau, National Youth Commissioner and Chair of the National Youth Network for Scouts Canada. “Apple Day is our chance to show our appreciation to the public and just one of the opportunities throughout the year to interact with our local communities.”
