WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington County OPP officers laid over 120 charges during “Operation Impact, which was conducted over the Thanksgiving long weekend, Oct. 9 to 12.
Police say officers targeted the “big four” offences: alcohol/drug impairment, speeding, distracted driving and seatbelt violations.
As a result, a total of 126 charges were laid: 95 for speeding, eight for stunt driving, one for distracted driving and 21 other “hazardous moving violations.”
“Once again, we would like to thank those on our roadways that made a conscious effort to drive in a safe and appropriate manner,” stated Sgt. Darryl Porterfield.
“We are encouraged that over the weekend in Wellington County we had no impaired driving incidents. Our officers also were happy to report a high compliance with seatbelt usage.”
