GUELPH – A London couple faces several charges after a stolen vehicle was used to ram two Guelph Police cruisers recently.
Police say that just after 9pm on Dec. 16, an officer was patrolling on Woodlawn Road West near Woolwich Street when he saw a Toyota 4Runner in a business parking lot that was reported stolen from London earlier in the month.
“As officers pulled into the parking lot, the driver of the SUV attempted to flee and drove into two cruisers,” states a press release from Guelph Police Service.
“The occupants then exited the vehicle and tried to flee on foot. A female passenger was arrested immediately, while the male driver was arrested nearby following a short foot pursuit. No injuries were reported.”
A 32-year-old London man and a 49-year-old London woman are each charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, occupying a stolen vehicle and several counts of breaching court orders. The man is also charged with dangerous driving and flight from police.
The man was held for a bail hearing on Dec. 18 while the woman will appear in court on Jan. 19.
