Saugeen Conservation names new general manager

FORMOSA – The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has appointed Erik Downing as its general manager/secretary-treasurer.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Starting from zero and working their way up, United Way looks to raise millions of dollars each year to support community partners.

Report: it costs $315 per week to feed family of four

GUELPH – The average family of four can eat a nutritious diet for $315 per week, according to the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health monitoring of food affordability report that was presented to the board of health on Dec. 4.

Erin council approves water rate increase, new interim wastewater fee

ERIN – Town council has approved a 3% increase in Erin’s water rate, as well as a new interim wastewater fee of $83 per month for Erin Glen residents.

‘I love this kind of crazy’: Rockwood woman trains for third straight Canadian Ski Marathon

ROCKWOOD – Rockwood resident Jenn Banfield is training for the Canadian Ski Marathon, North America’s oldest cross-country ski event, taking place on Feb. 8 and 9 in the Montebello, Quebec area north of the Ottawa River. She has already completed the 160-km event twice before.

Mapleton considers significant changes to land use permit system

Senior Citizen Hall to be renamed Arthur Optimist Town Hall

KENILWORTH – The Senior Citizen Hall in Arthur officially has a new name. On Dec. 16, Wellington North council approved a request from the Arthur Optimist Club to rename the facility the “Arthur Optimist Town Hall,” reflecting a 15-year lease agreement that names the club as manager of the building.

Township signs agreement for trail use, maintenance with snowmobile club

KENILWORTH – Wellington North has signed a memorandum of understanding with a local snowmobile club to allow the club to use a piece of township-owned land for a snowmobile trail.
