WELLINGTON COUNTY – A controversial provincial decision to unilaterally move rural properties into urban boundaries, both here and across the province, will be reversed. At an Oct. 23 press conference, provincial officials announced legislation to that effect will soon be introduced.

MINTO – Town council has approved a minor variance application to facilitate a planned commercial/residential development on the King Hotel property in Palmerston.

GUELPH – Palmerston resident Michael Hurst returned to Guelph Superior Court on Oct. 19 to hear prosecution and defence lawyers make sentencing recommendations to Justice Cynthia Petersen.

CLIFFORD – It was a sunny Saturday morning, when the Clifford and District Horticultural Society (CDHS) celebrated National Tree Day by planting a tree in the Old Rotary Park in Clifford to honour Georgie Hutchison, who passed away in January. 

CLIFFORD – Dan Hill, centre left, and Mark Leslie, centre right, MRI campaign co-chairs for the Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation attended the Clifford Fire Station on Oct. 11 to receive a $5,000 gift towards the campaign.

KENILWORTH – Wellington North and Minto Fire Chief Chris Harrow says he needs to focus more of his attention on the fire service following a review of the service and a shared fire chief agreement between Wellington North and Minto.

MINTO – The Minto Youth Action Council (MYAC) is hosting a costume swap on Oct. 16.

MINTO – Four local groups received $3,250 each from the proceeds of the 2023 Minto Mayor’s Golf Tournament.
