DRAYTON – During December Edge Mutual Insurance Company staff donated food, toys and support to various initiatives. 

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Mapleton Township’s first mayor, Carl Hall, died on Dec. 31 at age 87.

MAPLETON – A small but enthusiastic group of Palmerston and District Hospital MRI+ Campaign committee members joined Larry and Debbie Schill on Jan. 4 at their farm outside of Drayton to announce a $250,000 pledge over five years to the campaign.

MAPLETON – The township here is adopting a group benefit package for members of council. 

ALMA – There were tractors, trucks, horses, ponies, and Grinches galore at the Alma Santa Claus parade on Dec. 22.

DRAYTON – Twenty-eight Grade 6 students from Maryborough Public School participated in a “Shop with a cop and a firefighter” event on Dec. 19 at the Drayton Freshmart, raising $3,000 in donations for the local food bank.

MAPLETON – “This has been a long time coming,” said public works director Jamie Morgan about the Faulkner drain improvement and realignment, noting there have been conversations about the project for more than 10 years. 

MAPLETON – Firefighters were called to the blaze, near the intersection of 14th Line and Sideroad 17 in Mapleton Township, just before 9am on Dec. 29. No one was injured but about 40 cows died in the fire.
