MINTO – The Town of Minto will provide a letter of support for the Minto-Mapleton Family Health Team’s (MMFHT) application to the province for funding to expand staffing to allow more local residents to access primary care providers.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Starting Friday, masks are no longer required at the three hospitals in Wellington County. Patients, staff and visitors are now encouraged - but not required - to wear masks.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Public health officials say the air quality in the region is "high risk" and area residents should take precautions – at least for the next few days.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Environment Canada has issued a special air quality alert for Wellington County, and much of southern Ontario, due to smoke plumes from Quebec and northeastern Ontario. "High levels of air pollution have developed due to smoke from forest fires," the June 7 alert states.

Blasts from the past – The photo of Bert and Ab Hesselink at the ball park in Moorefield,  and a Moorefield Athletic Association (MAA) float in a past parade, were supplied by the MAA, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023.

A petition calling for the reversal of a decision to cut a performing arts course at Norwell District Secondary School is gaining steam, but local school board officials say the decision won’t be reversed in time for the next school year.

MAPLETON – Council here received some advice from Wellington County planning staff on how to proceed with requests for expanding urban boundaries within the township, in the wake of provincial changes pre-empting the county’s work in that area.

DRAYTON – The Drayton Youth Centre has gone through many changes in the last couple of years. 

MOOREFIELD – About 100 people attended the annual general meeting of the Mapleton Historical Society on May 12 at the Moorefield Community Centre.
