WELLINGTON COUNTY – Due to a recent rise in COVID-19 cases, masks will once again be required at all three hospitals in the county. Officials are asking visitors to be kind to health care workers, "especially when they ask you to wear a mask."

ALMA – The Wellington County Farm and Home Safety Association is hosting a Children’s Farm and Home Safety Day on Sept. 30 at Husky Farm Equipment in Alma. 

WELLINGTON COUNTY – With the arrival of cold and flu season, public health is changing the way it reports cases of respiratory illnesses. On Sept. 19, WDGPH launched a new portal that combines reporting on flu, RSV and COVID-19.

MAPLETON — The Drayton Terry Fox Run was on Sept. 17 with the option to bike, walk or run. The event began at 1:30pm at the Drayton Agricultural Hall with routes of 2km, 5km and 10km. Water stations were also located along the routes. Musical entertainment and food were available while participants

MAPLETON – Township council rejected a zoning amendment to permit a cemetery on property owned by a local church after hearing delegations from local residents opposed to the proposal at the Sept. 12 meeting.

MAPLETON – A township resident is asking council here to consider banning or better regulating backyard chickens, both inside and outside urban boundaries.

MAPLETON – Council here has agreed to amend a policy that dictates staff wages be increased annually,  based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as of the end of August of the previous year.

DRAYTON – Area residents will come together once again to help the Terry Fox Foundation fight cancer.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The annual Terry Fox Run will be taking place this week- end on Sept. 17 across several municipalities in Wellington County to help raise money for cancer research.
