ALMA – Core Fuels Ltd. has dropped its appeal of Mapleton council’s decision not to grant a zoning amendment for an underground propane storage facility on property the company owns in this hamlet.

DRAYTON – An outdoor skating rink behind the PMD arena here is now open, Mapleton Township announced on Jan. 14.

MAPLETON - The township will provide Drayton Entertainment with $30,000 to help offset costs of operating the Dayton Festival Theatre in 2021. Mapleton council agreed to the contribution during the Jan. 12 meeting, which featured a presentation from artistic director Alex Mustakas.

MAPLETON – In response to the current stay-at-home order and additional provincial pandemic restrictions, Mapleton Township has issued a ban on large fires. The decision, announced on Jan. 13, applies to fires larger than 2m by 2m.

MAPLETON – Mapleton Township will provide a letter recognizing the importance to the agricultural industry of the Darling Ingredients rendering plant at Rothsay. The letter will be read by Mayor Gregg Davidson during the company’s appeal before Ontario’s Environmental Review Tribunal.
