MISSISSAUGA – The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has ruled “there are no reasonable grounds to believe” an OPP officer committed a criminal offence during an arrest that led to a woman breaking her arm about five months ago in Rockwood.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Four overdose deaths have been reported over the last week in the Guelph, Rockwood, Elora and Arthur areas. Fentanyl is believed to be involved these deaths, which may suggest a stronger than normal substance is circulating in the community, public health officials stated.

GUELPH-ERAMOSA – The goal of the new policy, passed on Feb. 16, is to “enhance the safety and security of township employees, the public and our corporate assets,” officials say.

GUELPH-ERAMOSA – After a watermain break in December, Guelph-Eramosa Township council has approved a $495,000 repair to take place in the spring. The watermain on Highway 7, between Carroll Street and Fredrick Street in Rockwood, broke on Dec. 23, resulting in extensive damage to the road.

GUELPH-ERAMOSA – Public trails near Guelph Lake here will be closed for four days next week for tree maintenance. The Grand River Conservation Authority announced the closures on Feb. 12.

GUELPH-ERAMOSA – Police are investigating a serious crash here on Sunday afternoon that resulted in the death of a passenger and sent two others to hospital.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – A $1-million tender for rehabilitation of two bridges on Jones Baseline in Guelph-Eramosa has been approved by Wellington County council.

ROCKWOOD – Rockmosa Park will continue to be the home of the Rockwood farmers market for another year.
