ELORA – Councillor Bronwynne Wilton thinks council made the wrong decision when it voted for construction of a refrigerated multi-use pad at Bissell Park, and she hopes to convince council to reconsider that decision during Monday night’s council meeting.

ELORA – The volunteers who run the book sale that benefits the Elora Festival have a problem. Their storage room is full, thanks to generous community donations of books over the summer.

ABOYNE – Paul Kelly was recognized  last weekend by the Wellington County Historical Society for being inducted to the Ontario Agriculture Hall of Fame. 

FERGUS – Pain is killing Dan Hofsink, vertebrae by vertebrae, and he’s reaching the end of his rope.  And the Canadian health care system hasn’t been able to help.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local fishermen David Pol of Arthur and Derek Cushing of Salem are making their dreams come true as the duo prepares to represent Canada at the 2024 Bass Master Team Championship later this year in Louisiana. 

FERGUS – The audience seemed to enjoy the Canadian Improv Showcase at the Fergus Grand Theatre on Oct. 17 as the performers demonstrated their quick wit and ability to think on their feet in this unscripted performance that was largely directed by audience suggestions.

FERGUS – On Oct. 18,  on behalf of the Board of Directors, the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games president Matthew Bennett-Monty, centre, and vice president Christine de Nottbeck, right,  presented David Tanner from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Fergus with a cheque for $500.

FERGUS – The Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora fielded a crew on Oct. 22 to help with Habitat for Humanity Guelph Wellington’s build in Fergus – a townhouse complex on Garafraxa Street West that will eventually have 32 stacked townhouse units over three buildings.

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Food Bank, in partnership with The Giving Spot and Friendly Fridays Free Market, hosted the Centre Wellington Community Supports Fair on Oct. 18 at the Fergus Highland Rugby Club.

ELORA – The Monster March event on Oct. 19 in Elora collected a car full of food and more than $396 in cash donations for the Centre Wellington Food Bank.
