ELORA – Centre Wellington council agreed to a development charge (DC) late payment agreement between the township and Stirling Marathon at its April 25 council meeting.

FERGUS – Longtime MPP Ted Arnott has confirmed he is once again seeking reelection in Wellington-Halton Hills. The Progressive Conservative incumbent has served nearly 32 years at Queen's Park.

FERGUS – Mayor Kelly Linton will not be running for re-election in the October municipal election. Linton made the announcement at the township’s project open house and town hall at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex on April 28.

FERGUS – It won’t be long before people entering Fergus will know that this is the home of Paralympian Patrick Anderson. Centre Wellington council, at a special meeting on April 27, unanimously supported a staff recommendation to install “home of” signs at the north and south entrances to Fergus.

SALEM – Chris Cox has done it again. The Salem man set his third Guinness World Record – this time for the heaviest single repetition Turkish get-up. He completed the complicated manoeuvre on Jan. 9, lifting 76.56kg (168 lbs. 8 oz.) in a single repetition.

ABOYNE – The inaugural Wellington County Writers Festival launched here on April 23 was a hit with writers and readers alike. A total of 45 authors and book vendors were on hand for the event at the Wellington County Museum and Archives.

FERGUS – A group of young people took to the streets here on Sunday to draw attention to a number of social justice causes. The April 24 Youth for Justice march was organized by Centre Wellington District High School students Abby Graham, Kyla Perry and Avaline Booth.

ELORA – The Elora Rocks have won the championship in the inaugural season of the Western Ontario Super Hockey League. The newly revived team won the best-of-seven final series 4-2 against the Tillsonburg Thunder, wrapping up Game 6 on Saturday with a 3-2 win on the road.
