FERGUS –  Students at St. Joseph Catholic School have raised funds to provide much needed vaccinations for families in Guatemala through One by One: The Latin America Project.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry announced on June 20 that rabies vaccine bait will be dropped soon in targeted areas of the province, including Welling ton County.

GUELPH – The county’s social services committee has endorsed recommendations for air conditioning installation at the county-owned affordable housing building located at 165 Gordon Street in Fergus, and the replacement of windows, doors, siding, downspouts and eaves at social housing in Guelph

FERGUS – The Medieval Faire will be back in Fergus for the first time since 2019, and there will be no shortage of things to do downtown on July 23, according to event organizer Debb Greer.

GUELPH – Public health officials have identified the first case of monkeypox in the region, but stress there is no increased risk to the general public.

ELORA – While many municipalities are scrambling to meet new provincial legislation requiring them to have asset management plans in place by July 1, Centre Wellington is ahead of the curve.

FERGUS – Elementary students from the Upper Grand District School Board participated in a Pride event at John Black Public School in Fergus on June 16. Public schools in attendance included Elora, Eramosa, John Black, JD Hogarth, Ponsonby and Victoria Terrace.

ELORA – The Soap Box Derby is back to kick off Canada Day in Centre Wellington. 

Grand opening – Groves Memorial Community Hospital officially opened its Memorial Forest, located behind the hospital, on June 9 with about 100 donors and those associated with the project present to celebrate.
