CENTRE WELLINGTON – The search for a male suspect around Belwood Lake on Thursday was not successful but police arrested the man later that night at a nearby property.

ELORA – While acknowledging it is an imperfect system, Centre Wellington council agreed at its April 11 committee of the whole meeting, to continue the downtown parking and patio strategy for another year despite opposition from several delegations.

CENTRE WELLINGTON  – Addyson Martin and Briar Decker were doused with water after their last game of the season with the Guelph Boys U13 AAA hockey team. Last game of the season – and last time playing with the boys.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will be installing warning booms or buoys upstream of dams to alert paddlers, anglers and boaters to stay away.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Several local event organizers and the Township of Centre Wellington have got together to organize a volunteer recruitment event at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex. The event takes place on April 20 from 6 to 9pm.

FERGUS – Centre Wellington Hydro is among the first utility providers in the province to offer a new “ultra-low” hydro rate for customers who opt-in to the program.

BELWOOD – St. Patrick’s Day might be the most familiar time for celebrating Irish culture, but a special event next month aims to prove there’s much more to it than green beer, shamrocks and leprechauns. 

Hunt prizes – Knox Presbyterian Church in Elora handed out prizes on April 8 to children who participated in its Easter Egg Hunt.

Mixed doubles – Feb. 25 was Curling Day in Canada and to celebrate, the Fergus Curling Club held a mixed doubles bonspiel.

Champs – The Centre Wellington Fusion U10A team captured the OMHA Championship in a tough 3-2 win over Erie Northshore on the Easter weekend.
