The British Council selected Nishin Nathwani from here, Amanda Achtman from Calgary, and Michael Zhan from Toronto from over 1,000 applications to participate in the Global Youth Summit from Nov. 15 to 22 in the UK.
The participants spent five days with 60 Global Changemakers from 44 countries, sharing best practices in the areas of human rights, climate change, poverty reduction, education, HIV and AIDS, and social entrepreneurship.
Six Global Changemakers were selected during the week to attend the World Economic Forum in Switzerland in January.
The young people representing Canada at the summit attended workshops, met campaigning experts and visited British organizations. A select group also met with Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Those selected for the World Economic Forum in Davos will attend a number of high level panels, and engage with the world’s most influential business and political leaders.
The Global Youth Summit is part of the British Council’s pioneering Global Changemakers initiative.
