Local Terry Fox Runs set for Sept. 14

Local residents will be among hundreds of thousands from across Ontario expected to participate in the annual Terry Fox Run on Sept. 14.

Runs will be held in several Wellington locations for the fundraising event which has become a Canadian tradition.

The Drayton run is scheduled to begin with registration, lunch and activities at the old arena at the fairgrounds at noon with the big kickoff at 1:30pm. For information contact Louise Ellis at 519-638-2120.

The Palmerston Terry Fox Run is between 8am and 2pm, starting from the Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum at 166 William Street. A donation  barbecue will be held around noon. For information contact organizer Kim Williamson at 519-343-3129.

Arthur’s event is 1 to 4:30pm beginning at the Optimist Pavillion at the Arthur Fairgrounds. Registration begins at 12:30pm. For information contact Cliff Heffernan at heffcli@eastlink.ca.

In Mount Forest, the run takes place between 9am and 2pm from the lawn bowling club on King Street East. Registration begins at 8:30am. For information contact Bill Dineen at bddineen2004@yahoo.ca.

The Fergus run begins at 10am at Forfar Park. Registration starts at 9am.

In Rockwood, the run starts at noon at Waterside Park. For information contact Steve Thomson at 519-856-2042 or ssthompson@live.ca.

In the village of Erin, the run starts from Centre 2000, with registration at 8:30am and an open start between 9am and 12:30pm.

Grand Valley will hold a run with a start time of 10am from the Grand Valley Community Centre on Main Street.
