The 2017 International Plowing Match wrapped up on Sept. 22 with the Celebration of Excellence Banquet.
The banquet celebrates the winners of the BMO Plowing Competition, the crowning of the Queen of the Furrow and honours the winners in each of the plowing categories and those receiving special awards.
Local plowers received awards at the night.
Local results are:
BMO Plowing Competition
– Kathleen MacRobbie of Mount Forest, reserve, class 1, group 2 – horses, jointer plow (walking); and
– Russell W. Rogers of Mount Forest, reserve, class 1, group 5 – horses, sulky plow – plows manufactured after 1979.
Antique plowing
– Doug MacRobbie was the champion of Class 6 Group 4 Antique Tractor Plowing – Mounted plows – 1 furrow. MacRobbie has lived in Puslinch Township all his life and competed in his first IPM in 1954.
The IPM celebrates farming history with our extensive historical displays and demonstrations.
The 2017 IPM also showcases the modern with some of the newest and most advanced plows and agricultural equipment on the market competing.
