Ontario’s farm families and local food providers invite residents to celebrate Local Food Week from June 2-8.
“We are so fortunate in Ontario to have access to a wide variety of delicious local food,” stated Jackie Fraser, owner of Fraberts Fresh Food, a small family-run grocery store specializing in local food.
“Specifically here in Wellington and the surrounding counties, we have incredible farmers and creative small food processors building a terrific and tasty local food chain.”
There are many ways people can celebrate Local Food Week. Commit to eating locally produced food all week. Ideas include hosting an all-local food barbecue or support a retailer, restaurant, or farmers market specializing in local food.
“Many people started to eat local because of the environmental benefits or to support the local economy,” added Fraser.
“Once you discover how much better local tastes, you are hooked!”
