Local Bowl for Kids event raises $19,000

The 2012 Bowl for Kids campaign in support of Big Brothers, Big Sisters North Wellington continued with Minto Clifford Public School participating in one event, and another 45 teams, or 224 bowlers from the communities of Minto and Mapleton coming out  to raise another $19,000.

On March 4 163 bowlers in Arthur raised $14,119, pushing the campaign total to $59,719.

Minto Clifford Public School delayed their participation due to a snow day. Their contribution is expected to add the funds to reach the final $60,000 fundraising goal.

“We are so very appreciative of our generous communities, the wonderful press coverage and the fact that we have a facility like the Mount Forest Bowling Centre to work with,” said Marnie Mainland, executive director of Big Brothers, Big Sisters North Wellington. “Our school challenge has grown this year and much credit goes to Jim Hunter, owner of Brenman Transit who generously sponsored the busing,   and to the many students and teachers who participated.”

An official “thank you” and invitation to the awards breakfast, to be held April 21 at 8:30 am at the Savoury Thyme Eatery in Harriston, will be sent shortly. Winners will be notified but everyone is welcome.
