The Ontario District Association of Chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society established a Harmonize for Speech Fund (H4S) in 1977.
The Royal City Ambassadors are one of 30 Ontario chapters who raise funds annually to support this effort.
To date these chapters have raised over $5.25 million.
Recently the Ontario H4S Fund trustees have approved a grant of $2,000 for Wee Talk.
Wee Talk is the preschool speech and language service system for children in Wellington and Dufferin Counties and the City of Guelph.
This service is administered by speech and language pathologist Meghan Austin at St Joseph’s Health Centre on behalf of Wee Talk.
The Royal City Ambassadors made the cheque presentation on behalf of H4S to Austin on Aug. 28.
This is the second grant approved for Wee Talk – the previous one was in 2016.
Guelph’s own premier male a cappella chorus, the Royal City Ambassadors is proud to support the Harmonize for Speech Fund and Sing Canada Harmony (including local grants) – and other local charitable and volunteer initiatives, officials state.
In April of 2016, The Ambassadors partnered with three Presbyterian, one Baptist and two Roman Catholic churches in Guelph in a concert to raise money for refugee sponsorship.
The Al Sawal family from Syria is one of the sponsored families.
