GUELPH – Twenty two nutrition programs in Wellington County worked together to raise $13,761 to help local children live free from hunger.
This contributes to the $82,033 raised in Dufferin, Wellington and Guelph student nutrition programs.
In a recent press release Jennifer Tasca of the Children’s Foundation stated the organization extended “its sincere thanks and congratulations to all staff, students, parents, volunteers and community members who took part in the 10th Year Anniversary of the Live Free Campaign to help local kids live free from hunger.”
She added the foundation further acknowledged additional fundraising efforts with the help of sponsors, The Old Post, Harry Stone’s and Meridian Credit Union.
The four Wellington award recipients are: Victoria Cross Public School for most improved, raising $1,091 more than in 2018; JD Hogarth Public School for most funds raised online, raising $250 through online donations; Youth Options for most funds raised per capita, raising $300 by 25 students; and Victoria Cross Public School for the Strongest Spirit Award.
Providing access to wholesome, healthy food is one way the Children’s Foundation empowers children and youth to build hope for lifelong change and break the cycle of poverty.
The Help Kids Live Free From Hunger campaign raises awareness and much-needed funds for vital student nutrition programs.
