Little Angels host second collection for food bank

They add up.

Even Little Angels day care centre supervisor Lori Readyhough was surprised last year when children at the centre decided they wanted to help the food bank and do it by collecting pennies from home.

Readyhough said in an interview on Oct. 28 she expected they might reach $50. Instead, the coins totalled $315. And they weren’t all pennies, although a lot of those coppers were brought in by students.

Readyhough said when people found out about the children’s project, they started donating. She often came to the centre to find bags of coins at the door. The centre rolls the change, and there are plenty of nickels, dimes and larger denomination coins sent in.

She said this year the centre is hoping to beat last year’s total. With the campaign barely underway, the children have already collected over $50 for the food bank.
