Elora Public School Grade 2 student Kaleb Cozzarin is among those happy to bring a litterless lunch to school each day. Recently a group of “Green Gryphons” conducted a school-wide garbage audit, sorting and weighing the trash produced at the school in one day. “Students were disappointed to see so much food packaging in the garbage,” school officials state. Students will take the information from the audit and, after making a report to the Upper Grand District School Board, they will decide on the next steps to help reduce waste. Cozzarin encourages families to “buy stuff that is not in wrappers and packaging.” Submitted photo
