FERGUS – The Fergus Lions Club is back again this year, with its 26th Christmas Gift Card Drive in support of the Centre Wellington Foodbank.
What began as a toy drive, transitioned to a gift card drive during the pandemic, a change that has been embraced for five years now.
“The food bank does not have space to hold toys and it’s easier for the food bank to handle gift cards,” said Fergus Lions Club president Margaret Murray.
The Christmas Gift Card drive began on Nov. 13 and will continue until Dec. 13.
Gift cards can be dropped off during business hours in the front showroom at Reliable Ford in Fergus.
Those interested in making a donation via cash or cheque can leave their donation in an envelope and hand it in to the front desk.
This year the Fergus Lions Club has sponsored two families and will continue its tradition of donating $2,500 to the food bank on the last day of collecting donations.
