ERIN – The Erin District Lions Club has made a $4,000 donation to the East Wellington Family Health Team (EWFHT) to assist the region’s vaccination rollout.
“We want the community back on their feet, and by assisting the East Wellington Family Health Team, we can help get more people vaccinated and back to some normalcy,” said Susie Wilson, the club’s secretary.
Wilson said the Erin District Lions Club is always looking for new members, and despite having to hold meetings virtually, it has remained active during the pandemic.
“During COVID we’ve continued to support our community. We currently are raising funds for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, which is a virtual dog walk,” she said.
“We’re also working with the Town of Erin on our Erin Lions Park, updating some of the play structures.”
Wilson said new folks moving into the Erin area often don’t realize the Town of Erin has two Lions Clubs.
“There’s the Hillsburgh and District Lions Club and the Erin District Lions Club, who supported the community since 1951,” she said.
The clubs have been longtime supporters of the community.
“We have raised funds in the past from our golf tournament that supports families and individuals with needs, the East Wellington community food bank, local kids’ sports, and camps,” said Wilson.
