MOUNT FOREST – The Lions Club bingo is back.
Since the early 1970s the Mount Forest Lions Club have run a weekly bingo in an effort to raise funds for Mount Forest and surrounding community.
“When we had to shut down due to the world-wide COVID pandemic back in March of 2020 (our last bingo was March 11, 2020) not only did the world change but also the way the Lions Club served our community,” stated George Laurencic, club bingo chair, in an email to the Community News.
The club had to readjust the Santa Claus parade to a “drive by” parade at the fairgrounds. It has also held food card raffles and “road tolls” to maintain a presence and support the community.
However with recent relaxation in public health restrictions the club again is able to host weekly bingo.
Bingo, the Lions’ main fundraiser, runs Wednesday nights at the Mount Forest and District Community Centre. Doors open at 5:30, early bird games start at 6:45, and over $2,000 will be given away.
As per COVID-19 protocols, proof of full vaccination and photo ID are required.
