MOOREFIELD – The Moorefield Horticultural Society (Mapleton Buds and Blooms) held its annual meeting on Nov. 30. The meeting was well attended and a catered dinner was served.
After an unusual two years, members are hoping 2022 will be different and regular meetings can be held with refreshments, speakers and a full slate of shows and garden tours.
“We are thankful to the township for giving us the space for our functions. It is good to note that they appreciate what we do in the community,” states a press release from the horticultural society.
Society members have been looking after 10 flowerbeds in the township of Mapleton. Both Moorefield and Drayton have pollinator beds.
District 7 director Kathy Bouma installed the 2021 Mapleton District Horticultural Society executive board.
The 2021 annual general meeting minutes were adopted as read and the financial report accepted before the installation of officers. Kathy Bouma congratulated the society on its interesting and creative events.
Linda Timmerman has been the local society’s membership coordinator for many years and was presented with the Ontario Horticultural Association Society President’s award for her outstanding contribution in membership administration.
The meeting ended with members participating in a “show and tell” session.
