Mackey acclaimed as federal Liberal candidate in Perth-Wellington

PERTH-WELLINGTON – David Mackey was born in Port Perry and raised in Oshawa. 

Mackey’s grandparents were farmers. As a child, he enjoyed spending long summer holidays with his grandparents on Lake Scugog.

“Mackey is an enthusiastic advocate for innovation, growth, community engagement, and equity,” campaign officials stated in a press release.  

“A dedicated father, experienced volunteer, and proven leader, David brings a deep commitment to building stronger, more inclusive communities.

“In a career in high-tech management, David successfully navigated the challenges of corporate leadership, fostering collaboration and driving solutions in complex environments. 

“He has mastered skills in relationship management, digital transformation, and problem-solving to benefit both large multinational organizations and small businesses,” the release states.  

“His expertise includes connecting local enterprises with customers.

Now retired, Mackey serves on the Stratford Public Library Board, the Ontario Library Service Board, and the Ontario Library Board Association. 

“Through his dedication to libraries, he champions the role of accessible, trusted knowledge in creating resilient, human-centred communities,” officials state.  

At the national level, Mackey is a board member of the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, advocating for safe, secure and inclusive digital infrastructure across Canada.

“David’s commitment to youth and mental health is reflected in his involvement with the Perth District Health Unit ‘Elements’ program, which builds emotional resilience in young boys,” officials state. 

“These efforts underscore his belief that community strength begins with investing in people.

“David’s vision for Perth-Wellington is one of empowerment, connection, and opportunity. 

“He seeks to ensure that every individual and family has access to the resources, education, and infrastructure they need to thrive,” officials state.  

“Through principled leadership and bold action, David aims to bring people together, amplify their voices, and create a future in which everyone in Perth-Wellington can succeed.”
