Vote wisely

Dear Editor:

Today I heard that 46% of Canadians are $200 away from being financially ruined. That is so close to half the population it is scary.

About 36% of that group are making minimum payments on their many credit cards. Why? Are we all living beyond our means?

Our disposable incomes are constantly shrinking. We are told that the economy is bright and rosy. More jobs than ever (most of those jobs are part time).

We all want more. We all want it for free (as we are being led to believe) but nothing is free.

Promises, promises and more promises with each promise bigger than the last one. Bribery with our own money … it is unbelievable.

I would still like to know where each party leader plans on getting all of these billions of dollars to pay for these promises when we are already billions of dollars in debt.

Personally I can’t afford to pay the government any more in taxes.

None of us could manage to run, let alone keep, our homes under these conditions without creditors constantly banging on our doors.

We still have Indigenous people living without clean drinking water which is a travesty. We have seniors and veterans using food banks. Disgusting. We have mentally ill people and homeless folks, through no fault of their own, living in the streets.

We still have two Canadians languishing on death row in China. Trade with India has stalled. All is not rosy. Get out and vote; many people would and have died for that right. Do your homework, be informed. Vote wisely.
