Dear Editor:
RE: ‘Expert’ mouse, Nov. 28.
I was puzzled to read that only 14 scientists out of 469 signatures analyzed were actually scientists, which seemed to infer therefore that there is no climate emergency.
I then looked at the original list of 11,000-plus signatories, specifically the first 469 entries. I did indeed find that there were 14 names listed as a “scientist”.
However, I also discovered that there were 207 professors, researchers and lecturers who, according to Ezra Levant, cannot be scientists because were not listed as scientists. They were listed as professor of biology, researcher/geology, lecturer/applied liminology, etc., to name a few. The majority of the signatories were, in fact, university scientists with PhDs – except of course, for Mickey Mouse.
It seems that when climate deniers/skeptics have difficulty disputing the science, they turn to criticizing the scientists. It’s sad that in this case 11,000 scientists cannot convince two non-scientists, Ezra Levant and Henry Brunsveld, that there is a climate emergency.
