‘Plant another one’

Dear Editor:

RE: Paved paradise, April 18.

It might be that all the trees in the six square blocks in Elora that Heather Wood mentioned are simply dead.

I have a 40-foot ash tree at the corner of my property that I planted over 30 years ago – it was a tiny, spindly thing about a foot high back then.  It now has a blue dot painted on it by the township, suggesting ultimate removal; we plant, they grow, they die. Plant another one.

“I found paradise – it was under a parking lot.”
