Dear Editor:
RE: Old Order Mennonites feel ‘persecuted’ by orders that closed schools, churches, Dec. 3.
We are grateful to the health authorities’ decision to institute distancing, mask wearing and even the closure of schools and churches.
We know it is for the good of our communities’ and neighbours’ health.
This is something new and we will all have to learn how to deal with it. Things may seem unnecessary or extreme to some, and the unknown may lead to frustration in some cases.
But this is not persecution. Dealing with a barn full of animals with a virus is extremely stressful, but it will only last for a short time. We will do what we can to keep the virus out of our hospitals.
With time our schools will be open and I will be sitting in church with Levi Frey worshipping the prince of peace. The horses are patiently waiting.
