Dear Editor:
RE: County, OPP, CHMA partner on Here4Hope initiative, Sept. 5.
Thank you for your in-depth reporting. Coverage of such community-wide programming raises awareness of suicide prevention tools, activities and targeted programs and services that our residents can participate in, access and more.
I would like to add that there are organizations, such as Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington (FCSSGW), which may not be a financial partner in this program, but are part of the network of community partners offering programs and services that build on foundations such as Here4Hope.
FCSSGW is proud to offer the only free quick-access single session mental health clinics in the county, located in Fergus and Mount Forest. We are currently working with MPP Randy Pettapiece, Minto Mental Health and the Minto Mapleton Family Health Team as Pettapiece advocates on behalf of our community for an additional clinic in Harriston.
The dates and hours for our current clinics are:
– Mount Forest Family Health Team (Claire Stewart Clinic), Mondays from 10:30am to 5pm, call 519-824-2431 ext 36 starting at 9am to make a same-day appointment;
– Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce, 400 Tower Street South, Fergus, Thursdays from 4 to 7pm, no appointment necessary.
The quote, “It takes a village to raise a child” could be amended to say “It takes a community network to build resilience.” That is what all of our agencies are doing – building more resilient communities.
Thank you for your ongoing support in covering critical community resources and programming.
Joanne Young Evans,
FCSSGW executive director
