Dear Editor:
RE: The proposed animal control bylaw updates in Centre Wellington.
What are they thinking? The new proposals for animal bylaws were needed, as new subdivisions fell into responsible planning and are therefore very compact in nature.
However, the township has seemed to have forgotten about the rest of the existing towns and our vast rural and agricultural home owners that are also impacted by these laws. Bees are prohibited under this wording. Alpacas, llamas, elk, emu and bison cannot be kept on our farms. Your child owns four goldfish? Not anymore. Gentle ball pythons are totally illegal, and don’t even think about breeding rabbits.
I am a firm believer in responsible pet ownership, but these extremely restrictive regulations are too much. I hope the township will listen to existing pet owners and address everyone fairly.
