Dear Editor:
RE: “Different messaging,” page 40, March 19.
I was appalled with the picture of the sign “Thanks China.” In this time of worry, fears and anxiety we should not be fear mongering or laying blame! This is not going to help us deal with the current situation and it definitely is not setting a good example to the youth who really don’t understand why this is happening across the world.
This virus could just as easily started at that house that posted such a disgraceful attempt to lay blame. In times like this we need to remember the bigger family that most of us have forgotten we are part of: the human race. This virus and many other afflictions that can strike us do not care for race, creed or culture. What we need now is love and support and working together as one world family, to find a solution to the spread of COVID-19.
I hope that in the grand scheme of public reactions, we see more pictures of positive messages such as those on the sidewalks in future editions.
Those like the ones mentioned above, which may have been meant to discourage readers from similar behaviours, bring more attention to the behaviour, which is what the owners of the lawn sign intended.

Mount Forest
