Dear Editor:
RE: The rumours about a Beatty Road bridge and the Highway 6 bypass.
We expect a bypass, not a detour through built-up areas of Elora or Fergus. Second Line looks like the only alternative.
I took a drive to the Noah Rd./Sideroad 5 and Sideroad 11 areas of former Pilkington Township and I cannot believe we are planning to spend $3 million or $4 million to replace bridges there.
Rural residents who failed to maintain their infrastructure in the past should not have an unlimited call on present urban taxpayers.
Maybe it would be cheaper to expropriate the properties and resell them with the proviso there is limited/no access by public roads.
Not to speak of a $4 million footbridge.
