Dear Editor:
RE: Centre Wellington approves space needs assessment consultant for future operations centre, Aug. 22.
Taxes in Centre Wellington are high and continue to rise at an irresponsible rate.
This is rationalized by many who say we live in a wonderful community and therefore I don’t mind paying more. I agree that we are fortunate to be able to enjoy Centre Wellington, but it is disturbing to read how many of our tax dollars are spent.
I assume a “space needs assessment” is meant to tell us that we need more room for our township’s operations. The time put into sending out tenders for a consultant is time wasted and hiring a consultant to become familiar with the township is a waste of tax dollars.
Look around – is there needed space? Ask the staff, as councillor Bob Foster has suggested, and if so, let a local realtor assist you. That’s what all your taxpayers do.
Bob Grant,
Fergus
