Canadians from all walks of life – veterans, scientists, youth and our First Nations peoples to name a few – are once again expressing great dissatisfaction with the current Conservative government. Support for our veterans has dwindled, with tragic results. Our record on climate change and carbon emissions has disrespected scientists and made us an international laughing stock. Youth unemployment and post-secondary debt are at record levels. And, appallingly, just last week Harper said that over 1000 missing and murdered Aboriginal women are “not high on my radar”. The lack of compassion or concern for each of these issues, and Canadians in general, is shocking. I can no longer stand by and watch Harper continue to destroy our great nation and treat our democratic institutions with such disrespect. As a result, I am officially announcing my candidacy for the Liberal Party of Canada’s nomination. I am excited to help bring much needed change. Please join me at the Unity Hall in the Centre Wellington SportsPlex, in Fergus, on Wednesday, January 7th at 7pm to share your priorities and hear the voice and values I bring to represent the people of Wellington-Halton Hills.
