Dear Editor,
Re:Heritage Dispute
I am responding to the concerns Ms. Williams raised about the wishes of my parents Mr. and Mrs. Ross.(October 2014). Her rhetorical question “Would they be happy with this decision?” to demolish the cottage on their property left me perplexed.
I have never heard either of my parents mention Ms. Williams so I found her interest in their private affairs repugnant.Let me assure Ms. Williams that our closely knit family would NEVER dishonor our parents in spite of her malicious musings that we might.
Ms. Williams notes the death of my Dad. She fails to acknowledge the voice of my living Mom, with whom we communicate daily and who found this letter hurtful. As a person who has devoted a career to advocacy for seniors I,too, was shocked.Ms. Williams has offended the memory of my late father and the life and engagement of my mother by her remarks.
The psychological impact of this letter on our family is upsetting. Offending a true Heritage family does not strike me as the behaviour of anyone truly interested in the Heritage of Elora.
