Re: Open Minds
Mental illness is a terrible thing; however, Janet Fowler’s
letter regarding that topic is very convoluted. She suggests that a more gentle approach by the media, when writing about mental illness, will somehow evoke a cure or
disguise the reality of this malady. She quotes Mr. Picard
as if he is a journalistic salvation for this disease.
Changing the description or words used to describe mental
illness will never foster its cure.
