I would like to express the most sincere condolences and express tremendous sadness to OPP Officer Reid and his family, as well as all of Wellington County Officers on the loss of his beloved Officer K9 Dekker. Many may not be aware, but OPP K9’s live with their handlers and families and are beloved pets as well as their partners. K9 Dekker was no exception to this rule. For 8 years, Dekker educated our young people by visiting schools, comforted and entertained seniors at the Retirement Homes as well as tracked and found the missing, tracked many criminals and made large drug busts among many other accomplishments. OPP Canine Officer Dekker served us well and was soon going to retire to live the easy life. Like our 2 legged OPP Officers, this wonderful German Shepherd risked his life daily for the citizens of Wellington County. He was loved by many. We will all miss his friendly, outgoing personality, loyalty and commitment to our community. Dekker served us all expecting nothing in return except a “Good Boy” and toss of a toy. To Officer Reid I’m so very sorry for the loss of your partner and friend. To OPP K9 Dekker, Thank You for your service, you will never be forgotten. THANK YOU, 10-4 Dekker
