In response to the letter from Mavis Vet. I was quite intrigued by your letter, so intrigued I actually ended up doing a bit of investigation. The only statue I could think of that fit your description had been standing at the corner of Mill and Geddes for years. When I got there I found the statue was actually gone, replaced by a wooden one. Not understanding in the least how it could be seen as offensive, I walked down to the new park on the corner of Mill and Metcalfe. There found the exact statue that had stood just down the street for years, without too much in the way of vandalism I might add. So while Im not sure who paid for it, I dont believe it was a recent purchase. Elora has catered to her artists for years. Its part of what makes Elora great and different. I couldnt tell you how many tourists Ive seen stop and take a picture with that tall man. I do hope you come to enjoy that park even with the statue, its still a lot better than a gas station.
