Dear Editor,
I really enjoyed the insert in the paper about Canada and important local and Canadian events. I was wondering why the sinking of the Titanic was highlighted, and yet the Halifax explosion in December 6, 1917 was not? Until I visited Halifax last year, I too, was not aware of the enormity of the devastation that occurred. I felt quite ignorant that I hardly knew about it, and yet I am well versed on the sinking of the Titanic. 2000 people died and 9000 others were injured during the Halifax explosion. I hope that as the 100th anniversary of the explosion nears, more Canadians are made aware of what happened.
Sincerely,
Nancy Payne
