The Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue Department’s Fergus station has purchased a thermal imaging camera.
It camera has been installed in the Fergus rescue truck.
The purchase would not have been possible without a donation from the Fergus Royal Canadian Legion Branch 275.
Thermal imaging cameras are an essential tool for firefighters. They create a picture by displaying differences in temperatures. They are used to find fire or hot spots that may be hidden from view, or to help find victims, even in the worst smoke conditions.
The cameras allow firefighters to be more efficient when searching. They help minimize property damage or they may even help save a life.
The fire department stated its thanks to the Fergus Royal Canadian Legion Branch 275 for its donation.
