The Poppy Fund at the Elora Branch 229 has again helped fund a community project.
The branch presented Groves Hospital Foundation representatives a cheque for $10,000 prior to the branch’s monthly meeting on Jan. 28.
Groves is running a campaign called CT Plus – Imaging for our Future.
Hospital Foundation spokesman Ted Ecclestone told branch members the foundation appreciates their work and generosity.
He added the fundraising appeal is now at 42 per cent of its goal of about $3-million for the CT scanner.
Ecclestone said the Legion has been incredibly generous to the hospital, especially since it launched its campaigns in 2003 to renovate Groves. That fund has now changed to build a new hospital.
The branch has made a $25,000 pledge to the CT scanner program, donated $9,900 to the hospital building fund, and $4,500 to the chemotherapy clinic.
As well, every month they continue to donate $300 to the building fund and chemotherapy clinic.
“We appreciate all the support of Branch 229,” Ecclestone said.
He added in an interview the foundation has visited over 100 groups, businesses and organizations in order to reach its fundraising goals, and soon there will be appeals to the public for financial help.
“We’re heavily reliant on the public now,” Ecclestone said.
“We totally need the public to get involved.”
He added that to date, individuals have been supportive of the hospital’s plans.
