On April 8 and 9, horse owners in Wellington County can learn from experienced horseman and teacher Tim Barton.
He is a former teacher at Olds College in Alberta (cowboy college) and will be in Erin to share his knowledge, gleaned from over forty years experience working with and training horses and mules.
Barton’s understanding of equine comparative anatomy serves as his basis for how he accesses each horse and determines the right saddle for the individual rider.
He attributes a good ride to the “balance” for a particular horse and rider. He says each horse (like each person) has a slightly different conformation, and by fitting the saddle and tack correctly, it enables the horse to move freely and without restriction or pain.
The Erin clinic runs for two days and participants are invited to a complimentary wine and cheese following the workshop on Saturday evening.
Budson’s, Provisions for Country Living, retail and feed store in Erin will have a display of seasonal products and information at the Erin Saddle fitting clinic on April 8.
